Death Valley..

We had to do a slight detour thanks to some pesky mountains (and accompanying snow!).. turned out the route we had to take was quicker, if a lot less scenic.. Anyway, we arrived at our Death Valley stop-over in the early afternoon, and took the oppertunity to drive up Mt Whitney (the tallest peak in the US) which was spectacular! We had dinner in a typical american diner-type-thing in Lone Pine (our two-horse town for the night) and went to bed early in anticipation of an early start the following day.
